WisPolitics.com: Supreme Court Candidates File Statements of Economic Interest

Supreme Court candidate Annette Ziegler lists family investments of at least $2.625 million worth of stocks, bonds and mutual funds on her economic interest statement, while opponent Linda Clifford holds family investments worth at least $465,000.

Candidates are required to list on their statements of economic interest any investment worth at least $5,000. They are not required to detail the amount of the investment other than to say they're worth between $5,000 to $50,000 or more than $50,000. WisPolitics assumed the minimum value for each investment listed in compiling the totals for the candidates.

Ziegler, a Washington Co. judge, lists at least $2.625 million in family investments in stocks, bonds and mutual funds, ownership in various real estate holdings, debts of more than $50,000 each to Smith Barney, US Bancorp, WCDLF Sub-COE LLC and West Bend Savings Bank, as well as her husband being a director West Bend Savings Bank.

Individual Ziegler family listings also show a financial stake in companies such as Altria, Cisco, Disney, Exxon, GE, Kimberly Clark, Microsoft, Pepsico, Pfizer and Time Warner.

Clifford, a Madison attorney, lists family investments worth at least $465,000 and debts between $5,000 and $50,000 to US Bancorp and more than $50,000 to Park Bank, as reported in her statement of economic interest. Her statement lists her connection at the law firm Godfrey & Kahn, SC and her husband's position as president of the law firm Clifford & Raihala in Madison. Clifford also reports she or a family member representing a host of clients, including: Bacardi USA, BayCare Health, Beloit College, Earth Advantage, Enbridge Energy, IoGenetics, Midwest Natural Gas, The Onion, ERCO Worldwide, UW Medical Foundation, Mercy Health System, Shopko Stores, the Wisconsin State Journal, the Wisconsin Industrial Energy Group.

Individual stock holdings included holdings in Danaher Corp., Caterpillar, M&I Bank, Pepsico, and Walgreens.
