Today I am announcing the end of my campaign for Governor. Failure to effectively prioritize and set up a vigorous fundraising operation ultimately forced my hand, and for those shortcomings, I take full responsibility.
Short of throwing my support behind another candidate at this time, here are qualities I believe will most help our next governor be effective:
1. Knowledge of where money is within the federal government and how to effectively work with Congress and federal agencies to secure that money for Wisconsin.
2. Experience managing a large public agency.
3. Experience effectively working with people from a great many backgrounds in the context of party politics.
I want to thank everyone who supported and helped guide our campaign. I will continue working toward our shared goal of good government and smart investment in Wisconsin’s future.
