Lodi – Jon Plumer, Lodi Town Board member and small business owner, announced his candidacy for the 42nd Assembly District today.
“As a father and grandfather of an ever-expanding family, I know the difference that good public schools, a strong economy, and affordable, quality healthcare makes as we seek to make our rural communities more attractive to younger families,” said Plumer. “Through my leadership positions in the Lodi community, I have learned from friends and neighbors the things that make this community so special, and what needs to be done in Madison to allow our region to thrive.”
Ever since moving to the Lodi area, Jon and his wife of nearly 40 years, Chris, have been heavily involved in the local community. Jon has been active on the Town of Lodi Board, Lodi EMS Commission, President of Lodi and Lake Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce and is a Lodi Optimist member. Plumer also started and continues to organize the Lodi Pride Concerts in the Park Series that run every Wednesday in Lodi from Memorial Day to Labor Day. He and Chris also co-founded the annual Lodi Pride free Thanksgiving dinner.
“I look forward to continuing to listen to people from all over Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, and Marquette counties to hear what issues are important to them and their families. In doing so, I am eager to work with community members to be a voice for the region and bring the values of our small towns to the State Assembly.”
Jon and Chris have raised four daughters, and are expecting their seventh grandchild in the coming months. Jon retired as a route salesman for Kraft Foods in 2011 after 30 years of employment. He owns and operates Plumer Karate America, which has seven locations around the state.
