Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference to feature veteran business expo, eight breakout sessions, and awards luncheon
Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball Bud Selig will be the keynote speaker at the fourth annual Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference on Thursday, May 23 at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. The Wisconsin Veterans Business Conference, presented by the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce, is the state’s premiere gathering of Wisconsin’s veteran business community. The event includes a veteran business expo featuring more than 150 veteran-owned and veteran-friendly businesses, eight breakout sessions, and annual awards luncheon.

Allan H. (Bud) Selig is the Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball and a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. A native of Milwaukee, Selig served in the U.S. Army for two years following his graduation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1956. Selig is credited with keeping baseball in Milwaukee after he purchased the Seattle Pilots and relocated the team to Milwaukee, renaming the team the Milwaukee Brewers. As Commissioner of Baseball, Selig oversaw baseball through the 1994 strike, the introduction of the wild card, interleague play, and the merging of the National and American Leagues under the Office of the Commissioner. He was instrumental in organizing the World Baseball Classic in 2006. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, New York on July 30, 2017. In addition to a long list of awards, honors, and recognitions from a wide variety of nonprofit and civic organizations, Selig was awarded the U.S. Department of the Army Outstanding Civilian Service Award in April 2015 for supporting soldiers, veterans, and their families through his work in Major League Baseball.

“Commissioner Emeritus Selig is a prime example of the impact veterans have had and continue to make to our state,” Newton continued. “His leadership, vision, integrity and commitment to this state demonstrate how veterans and military families are assets to our economy, our workplaces, and our communities.“
