The full Legislature is due to send a revised spending plan back to Evers near the end of June. \n\n\n\nAlready Republicans have nixed more than 500 items from the Evers budget\, including money for maintenance of the Brewers’ ballpark\, and unveiled a big plan to revamp the state money that goes to local governments for police\, fire and a variety of services. This shared revenue plan also contains local tax options so Milwaukee County and city can tackle looming pension problems. \n\n\n\nHow will the shared revenue plan fare\, what will be the replacement for the governor’s Brewers plan and what other items will impact metro Milwaukee in the next two years? \n\n\n\nHear from two Milwaukee-area legislators on the Joint Finance Committee to explore those and other questions at a Friday May 12 luncheon at the Zilber School of Public Health just west of Fiserv Forum. \n\n\n\n—REP. The cost for the general public is: $45 per person.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe luncheon features a keynote address from Sarah House\, a managing director and senior economist for Wells Fargo’s Corporate and Investment Bank\, followed by a Wisconsin-based panel discussion. \n\n\n\nHouse follows the U.S. macro economy\, including the labor market\, inflation trends\, and monetary policy. Prior to joining Wells Fargo in 2010\, she worked as a research associate for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond after gaining degrees from Tulane University and the London School of Economics. That was true even though Japan’s population is less than 10% of China’s 1.4 billion people. \n\n\n\nDirect investment by Japan in Wisconsin has grown steadily over time\, about $2.4 billion since 2014 alone\, and its stands as the state’s biggest foreign investor. The same is true across the United States\, where Japan ranks first in 36 states for foreign direct investment and in the top three in the rest. \n\n\n\nJapanese-owned companies also rank first among international sources in creating American manufacturing jobs and first in total research and development spending in the United States.
