American Bridge 21st Century is hitting President Trump with two new TV ads and two new digital spots that largely focus on his response to COVID-19.
One of the digital spots, meanwhile, knocks Trump as “afraid” of China, revealing his tax returns, wearing a mask, meeting with protesters, and taking responsibility with more than 130,000 Americans dead from COVID-19.
The spots are part of the Dem super PAC’s ongoing $25 million buy in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan that began in early June and runs through the end of August. Of the $20 million being spent on TV, $5 million is going into Wisconsin with the ads running in the Green Bay/Appleton, La Crosse/Eau Claire, and Wausau/Rhinelander markets.
The TV ads include a 30-second spot and a 60-second version with similar themes. They include a man identified as Steve who says he was a Trump voter who won’t support the president this fall and a woman identified as a health care worker named Sue.
In both versions, Steve and Sue knock Trump for his comments that “I don’t take responsibility at all” for a lack of widespread access to testing early in the pandemic.
“Why should I vote for you if you don’t want to be responsible for anything?” Steve asks in both spots.
