Dem super PAC Priorities USA has released a pair of ads targeting President Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Director of Battleground State Communications Steve Pierce said “Transmit” will run on televisions in the Milwaukee, Green Bay and La Crosse/Eau Claire markets as well as Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona. “Go Away” will run on social media, preroll video and digital TV. Pierce indicated the ads are part of an ongoing nearly $14 million campaign targeting voters in the state through the November election.
“Transmit” opens with newspaper headlines warning about easy, rapid transmission of the novel coronavirus before switching the focus to Trump’s recent campaign rallies and move to reduce funding for COVID-19 tests.
“Donald Trump is putting us all at risk. Donald Trump is failing America,” the ad concludes.
“Go Away” states that “Trump has been downplaying coronavirus since day one” and quotes the president saying, “it’s gonna go away.” The ad then cuts to Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, saying “that’s just not true.”
“It hasn’t gone away,” the ad finishes as the latest figures — 2.55 million cases and 120,000+ deaths — fill the screen. “Trump still doesn’t have a plan to get us out of this mess.”
