The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has moved all congressional district and county caucuses from in-person to online events as a COVID-19 public health precaution.

In a statement today, WisDems announced they will conduct votes by virtual ballot instead of paper ballot, and the registration deadline for delegates, candidates and observers is April 17.

County caucuses will be spread out between April 26, May 3 and May 10. CD caucuses will keep their original date of May 17.

WisDems said its Administrative Committee approved the switch on March 18, and the Democratic National Committee signed off soon after.

The Republican Party of Wisconsin has yet to announce any changes for county or CD caucuses. A WisGOP spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
