Charges have been filed against 16 felons who may have voted in the November 2020 election with another 14 cases under investigation, according to a report from the state Elections Commission.

The report lists another 45 cases that were referred to local authorities, but included no updates on their status.

By comparison, charges were filed in one case for the 2016 November election with 21 listed as under investigation. Another 19 were referred to local officials, but there was no update in the report.

WEC referred 14 cases to the Milwaukee County DA’s office. The DA filed charges in seven of those cases and is currently investigating four other cases. Still, three of the referred cases do not have a status update listed on the WEC website.

Westphal told WisPolitics.com attorneys are working through the referrals, but there is no set timeline on when investigations will conclude. He added law enforcement investigates the allegations when they have time.

Westphal also said the DA’s office provides WEC updates at least every two months on how the investigations are going.
