Dem U.S. Senate candidate Sarah Godlewski is running a new TV ad hitting Republican Ron Johnson on abortion.
It’s the first abortion-related TV ad announced in the U.S. Senate race since the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion that would overturn the 1973 decision that established the right to an abortion. Insiders have been watching how the issue will play in races this fall.
Godlewski’s campaign said it’s a six-figure TV buy that will run statewide. But it declined to provide other details.
The spot features Godlewski on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, where she says “it looks like Ron Johnson is gonna get exactly what he wants: overturning Roe v Wade, reinstating Wisconsin’s cruel abortion ban and putting doctors in jail.”
Godlewski says that’s not what Wisconsinites want, and she closes the ad vowing as senator to “never sit by and allow our rights to be stripped away. Join me. Let’s fight back and defeat Ron Johnson.”
