Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes’ U.S. Senate campaign staff have unanimously voted to unionize with the Campaign Workers Guild.
Barnes’ campaign did not immediately return requests for comment on how many of his staffers had signed the union contract.
Barnes in a statement applauded the news and touted his family’s union background.
“My story wouldn’t be possible without unions. My father worked third shift on the assembly line and my mother was a public school teacher,” Barnes said. “Their union memberships were our ticket to the middle class and the key to my success. I will always fight to ensure every worker has the benefits and opportunities they deserve.”
Lasry’s campaign staff in May voted to unionize with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Engineers Local 494.
