A group backing GOP state Sen. Roger Roth for lieutenant governor spent $100,000 on mail in June praising him as “ready to lead.”
Roth, R-Appleton, is part of an eight-person field running in the Aug. 9 primary for lieutenant governor. Vos, R-Rochester, faces a primary challenge for his southeastern Wisconsin Assembly seat. The groups running the pieces filed independent expenditure reports with the state earlier this month detailing their efforts.
The pro-Roth piece from Speak Free or Die says the Republican will ban ballot harvesting, block attempts to defund the police and “protect every innocent life,” among other things.
Speak Free or Die was created earlier this year to support Roth’s campaign. It hasn’t yet filed a finance report with the state.
