The liberal group A Better Wisconsin Together has added a second round of ads to its media buy targeting GOP lawmakers over the push to impeach Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz, along with a new mail campaign.
The group last week announced a seven-figure effort on various mediums. The new ads include two digital spots, along with the mailers.
The narrator in one of the digital ads says “extremist Republicans” are “desperate to overturn a fair and democratic election” and removing Protasiewicz would “threaten our democracy.”
The narrator adds, “Tell your state legislator: don’t overturn an election. Oppose the illegal impeachment.”
In the other, the narrator says, “Wisconsin Republicans don’t want to accept the outcome of this year’s Supreme Court election. They’re upset their candidate lost, and now they want to illegally impeach Justice Janet Protasiewicz.”
It ends with a similar line to the first spot urging viewers to call their legislators.
A spokesperson said the buy includes 15-second versions of the ads.
Meanwhile, the mailers target eight GOP senators: Rob Cowles, of Green Bay; Rob Hutton, of Brookfield; Rachael Cabral-Guevara, of Appleton; Dan Knodl, of Germantown; Eric Wimberger, of Green Bay; Howard Marklein, of Spring Green; Romaine Quinn, of Cameron; and Joan Ballweg, of Markesan.
One side thanks recipients for voting in the spring election. The other reads, “Together, we can stop extreme politicians from unconstitutionally impeaching Justice Protasiewicz.”
