Dem nonprofit owner Rebecca Cooke announced she has raised more than $200,000 over the first four weeks of her campaign to unseat 3rd CD U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden.
By comparison, Cooke raised $158,404 in 2021 over the first three months of her campaign for the seat, which was then held by retiring U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, D-La Crosse.
Van Orden, R-Prairie du Chien, reported $1 million in his warchest last month.
Van Orden has come under fire recently for cursing at a group of Senate pages in the U.S. Capitol. Cooke has fundraised off of the incident.
“Time and again, Van Orden has shown his true colors as an out-of-touch bully prone to unhinged meltdowns. The people of western Wisconsin deserve better,” Cooke said in a statement.
