Overall spending in the 2022 guv's race hit nearly $164.3 million, easily topping the previous record of $93.1 million in 2018, according to the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign.
The spending continued an escalation of costs for Wisconsin's gubernatorial contests. The WDC tracked $81.8 million spent by candidates and independent groups in 2014 and $37.4 million in 2010.
