8th Congressional candidates Tony Wied, R-De Pere, and Kristin Lyerly, D-Green Bay, have agreed to debate Sept. 27.
The two will debate at the Mauthe Center on the UW-Green Bay campus. The time of the debate has not yet been announced. Wied Campaign Manager Aidan Strongreen said someone from WBAY will moderate the debate, though it has not yet been decided who.
“Tony looks forward to hearing his opponent defend her support for Democrats’ radical agenda of open borders, higher prices, and an economy that has left Wisconsin families worse off,” Strongreen said in an email statement to WisPolitics.
Lyerly’s campaign did not immediately respond for comment.
The decision to debate comes after Lyerly publicly challenged Wied to a debate Aug. 26, setting a deadline for him to respond by Sept. 9. Wied did not respond by that deadline, but the two have confirmed the debate with the help of the Mauthe Center anyway.
