A progressive group founded by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has announced it will reach out to 146,000 of its Wisconsin members urging them to vote “uninstructed” in Tuesday’s Dem presidential primary.

Our Revolution, which spun off of Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, also backed similar efforts in Michigan and Washington. Uncommitted took a little over 13% of the vote in Michigan and 9.9% in Washington.

The group said members will receive an email today encouraging them to sign a pledge to vote uninstructed in support of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and “Tell Biden, Stop the death and destruction now.”

Our Revolution will also publish a series of social media posts and send out text notifications in support of the effort. A spokesperson for the group did not immediately respond to a WisPolitics inquiry about how much money was being put into the campaign.

“Progressive Democrats will not stand by idly as the White House sends hundreds of millions of dollars in weapons to Israel to enable Netanyahu’s horrific bombing campaign,” said Joseph Geevarghese, executive director of Our Revolution. “We encourage any and all pro-peace voters in Wisconsin to join our movement and use their ballot to pressure President Biden to change course and call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.”

Wisconsin’s uninstructed effort through the Listen to Wisconsin campaign has seen endorsements from progressive groups including Sunrise Movement, US Campaign for Palestinian Rights Action, Voces de la Frontera Action and Jewish Voice for Peace Action.

Listen to Wisconsin has a goal of 20,000 uninstructed votes, or about 15% of the projected vote, in next Tuesday’s primary in protest of President Joe Biden’s handling of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

The group has sent mailers to 200,000 voters asking them to “tell the White House: count me out for genocide.”

The mailer asks voters to tell Washington, D.C., to “stand with justice” and impose an immediate ceasefire.
