The Democratic Lieutenant Governor’s Association plans to spend $2 million on independent expenditures next year backing Sara Rodriguez’ bid for governor, the group announced.
It’s a potentially significant investment with a crowded Dem field that may struggle to raise money with nine people seeking the nomination and others considering getting in the race to succeed Dem Gov. Tony Evers.
The group didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking details on when the independent expenditure campaign would begin.
The DLGA said it was the largest commitment it has made to a lieutenant governor running for higher office.

“The DLGA is proud to stand with Sara Rodriguez as she fights to make history for Wisconsin next year,” said DLGA Executive Director Kevin Holst. Rodriguez is seeking to become the first woman elected guv in Wisconsin history.
Rodriguez hailed the group’s investment in a statement.
“With DLGA’s support, we’ll take our message to all 72 counties, build the strongest campaign in the field, and make sure we take our fight to lower costs, protect health care, and defend our freedoms all the way to the governor’s office,” Rodriguez said.
