Republican Nick Polce, a business owner and former U.S. Army Green Beret, announced his campaign for lieutenant governor.
Polce, of Delavan, is the fifth Republican to get into the race. Former Lancaster Mayor David Varnam and businessman Will Martin, who unsuccessful sought the GOP nomination in 2022, are in the field, as are Cyril Sablich, of Waterford, and John Totz, of Fond du Lac.
“As Lieutenant Governor, I will work tirelessly to lower costs for families, expand job opportunities, encourage innovation and industry to come to Wisconsin and ensure every child has access to quality education. Wisconsin has led in the past,” Polce said in his announcement. “It is time for Wisconsin to lead again.”
Polce finished a distant second to U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil, R-Janesville, in the 2018 primary for the GOP nomination in the then-open 1st CD. He took 14.9% of the vote, while Steil won 51.5%.
