President Donald Trump labeled liberal Supreme Court candidate “a very deranged, Soros-funded, left-wing lunatic who opposes voter ID, wants to trample on our Constitution, and is endorsed by socialist Bernie Sanders.”
Trump, meanwhile, praised conservative Brad Schimel as “a wonderful patriot” and “tough-on-crime judge” during a tele-town hall that lasted less than 10 minutes. It came as Schimel, a Waukesha County judge and former GOP AG, and conservative groups have targeted Trump supporters in their final GOTV efforts.

The president said the election will have an outsized impact on the country’s future.
“If the radical Democrats win, they’re planning to abuse the law to unilaterally rewrite Wisconsin’s electoral map, creating a tremendous problem, frankly, for our country,” Trump said.
Trump said Schimel would help “save our country from these people that are destroying it with their open borders and all of the ‘transgender for everybody’ stuff, men in women’s sports, all of the things that they so strongly stand for.”
Trump also cited “millions of people” entering the United States, many of whom he claimed are “absolute thugs” and murderers.
“We’re getting them out at record levels, and Brad is going to help us,” he added.
The call didn’t include questions from voters. Instead, at the end of the call, a moderator asked attendees to answer whether Trump can count on them to vote for Schimel in Tuesday’s election by pressing 1 for “yes,” 2 for “no” and 3 for “undecided.”
Schimel said if he earns support from 60% of people who voted for Trump in November, he will win the race.
“But we should shoot much higher than 60%,” Schimel said. “We should be shooting for all of President Trump’s voters to get out and vote for me in this election, because if we don’t, the movement that is restoring America to its greatness will bypass our state, and we cannot let that happen.”
Crawford campaign spokesperson Derrick Honeyman knocked Schimel in a statement, calling him a lackey for Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
”Brad Schimel is a corrupt politician who let 6,000 rape kits sit untested and wants to ban abortion with no exceptions,” Honeyman said. “Schimel has spent his entire career on bent knee to right-wing special interests, and now he’s just Musk and Trump’s lackey. Wisconsinites should reject Brad Schimel once again on April 1st.”
