Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin announced a new $3 million ad campaign to back Republican Tom Tiffany in the gubernatorial race.

The group said that pushes its investment in the campaign to more than $10 million.

The buy, announced today, includes the more than $1.3 million in independent expenditures the group detailed in a filing with the state on Friday. It listed costs for TV, radio, graphic design, printing and postage. So far, AFP has detailed more than $9.1 million in independent expenditures to the state, though those filings only go back to June 12, the first day groups had to report such activities.

In today’s announcement, the group released two ads, one focused on crime and the other taxes. Both feature a series of testimonials from people identified by their first name and a city in Wisconsin.

In one of the ads, Brett H. in Muskego warns, “If David Crowley becomes governor, the mess that’s in Milwaukee County is just going to spread throughout the whole state.” The ad also includes people promising Tiffany will stand with law enforcement.

In the second spot, a woman identified as Lori T. from Brookfield says, “Everyone is going to be taxed out of their homes. It’s just going to be impossible for them to pay their taxes.”

The AFP filing is one of several significant investments in the governor’s race reported in the last several days. That includes Restoration of America PAC detailing $940,848 spent on mailers and digital ads opposing Dem nominee David Crowley. The group, funded by Illinois businessman Dick Uihlein, has now reported $19.6 million in independent expenditures in the race.

Meanwhile, the liberal A Better Wisconsin Together reported $433,898 on digital spots and outdoor advertising opposing Tiffany and backing Crowley.

And the Iowa-based Americas PAC IEO reported $200,034 on radio opposing Crowley.
