Green Bay Clerk Celestine Jeffreys has resigned after her office twice sent duplicate absentee ballots to voters.
The city said in a short statement this morning that Jeffreys made the decision to step down, but offered no other comment other than wishing her well. The move comes nearly a month after the city placed her on administrative leave as the Elections Commission sought answers on how her office sent duplicate absentee ballots to voters ahead of both the April election and this month’s primary.
When she was placed on leave, the city said “these errors in the Clerk’s Office are unacceptable.”
