Former President Barack Obama has cut videos backing Dem gubernatorial candidate David Crowley, saying: “There is nobody better to lead Wisconsin forward.”
Crowley’s campaign told WisPolitics the videos aren’t yet an ad and initially will be used on social media.
The campaign shared with WisPolitics 48 seconds of video featuring several cuts of Obama talking directly to the camera about Crowley, the Milwaukee County executive.
Obama says he’s known a lot of leaders, “but I haven’t known many like David Crowley” adding his life story is “about overcoming adversity, and his life’s work is about bringing people together.”
Obama notes their similar backgrounds, starting out as community organizers and being girl dads.
“As leader of Wisconsin’s largest county, he created jobs and balanced the budget, and as governor, David will fight to make Wisconsin more affordable so that you’re paying less at the pump, at the doctor’s office and less at the end of the month,” Obama says, urging a vote for Crowley.
The videos come as Obama is ramping up his activity on behalf of Dem candidates around the country. He will campaign in Michigan Oct. 24 for U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and other Dems such as gubernatorial nominee Jocelyn Benson.
Politico reported earlier this week that Obama has cut ads for 24 candidates for governor and U.S. Senate around the country.
