The state GOP has canceled a meeting of its executive committee that had been called to discuss personnel matters amid criticism of state Chair Brian Schimming, according to two sources.
WisPolitics first reported on Monday that six members of the executive committee had submitted petitions seeking a May 12 meeting for “potential action regarding employment issues and board management.”
But the sources told WisPolitics late yesterday two of the six committee members had withdrawn their petitions seeking a meeting. The state GOP’s constitution requires at least six members to sign a petition to trigger a special meeting.
Brett Galaszewski, a member of the executive committee and national enterprise director for Turning Point Action, spearheaded the effort. He didn’t immediately respond to a text message late yesterday seeking comment.

Schimming has been under fire for the party’s lackluster fundraising and back-to-back double-digit losses in state Supreme Court races. That includes liberal Chris Taylor’s 20-point win in April.
