There will be one debate in this year’s state Supreme Court race between appeals court judges Maria Lazar and Chris Taylor.

Both have accepted an invitation from WISN-TV to participate in a debate March 25, two weeks out from the April 7 election.

Taylor’s campaign told WisPolitics yesterday it is the only debate she plans to do. There was also one Supreme Court debate in the past two races.

A Lazar spokesperson said the campaign had been invited to participate in at least four debates and accepted all of them.

“We have been told that the opposition has declined,” Nathan Conrad said.

WISN-TV announced yesterday its debate will be at the Marquette University Law School before an invite-only live audience. It will be moderated by WISN journalists Matt Smith and Gerron Jordan and broadcast live on the TV station.

It also will be offered statewide to WISN-TV’s “UpFront” partner stations in Wisconsin’s major markets and livestreamed on wisn.com, as well as the station’s app.

The debate will be done in collaboration with “UpFront” partner WisPolitics.
