The Republican Attorneys General Association continues to pull back its buy in Wisconsin’s race, widening the spending disparity between GOP nominee Eric Toney and Dem incumbent Josh Kaul.
The group at one point had more than $500,000 in reservations for Wisconsin’s race. But that dropped to $335,500 two weeks ago as a spokesperson for the group said RAGA planned to add more to the effort in the closing days of the race.
Instead, it has continued to pull back reservations this week and is now down to $137,600.
The group in late September released a 30-second TV that its affiliate Safer Wisconsin Fund planned to air, hitting Kaul over a backlog of sexual assault test kits.
Instead, the group hit the air today with a 15-second version of the ad. The narrator says Kaul’s crime lab had nearly 7,000 untested rape kits that sat on the shelves for years as victims waited for answers.
The narrator closes the spot, “If the worst happens, don’t call Josh Kaul. He doesn’t care.”
Overall, Kaul and his allies laid down $3.3 million in reservations for the full race, according to AdImpact. Kaul and his backers had reserved $1.5 million in paid media.
Over the final week of the race, the Dem side had $1.2 million in reservations in the race, compared to the $710,045 on the GOP side.
