Backers say fetal tissue bill will continue to advance research; Dems push back on hospital penalties
Backers of a bill that would notify parents following a stillbirth they can donate the remains for research touted the legislation as a means to promote “ethical sources” of fetal tissue.
The GOP-authored bill, which would also set new requirements for a facility to arrange final disposition of a stillbirth, is one of the two pieces of legislation making up the “Heal Without Harm” package.
