Cross, Blank want regents to have more control over performance-based funding

UW System President Ray Cross told lawmakers today to take a cautious approach as they consider Walker's proposal to bring performance-based funding to the system.
He said while he supported the idea, he wanted to make sure the model didn't just reward campuses on outcomes.
Some of the money, he said, also needs to be aimed at developing an "innovation fund" that would give money to campuses to launch programs aimed at improving those outcomes.
