Cross says Walker proposal best in a decade but needs some changes

UW System President Ray Cross said today Gov. Scott Walker's budget proposal for UW is the best "we've had in over a decade," though he's looking for some changes in the coming weeks.
Cross spoke at today's Board of Regents meeting in Madison, telling regents that Walker clearly listened to the UW System's calls for reinvestment and acknowledges its "critical role in strengthening Wisconsin's economy and its workforce."
But he said UW will "continue to make a case" for getting flexibility from the state to manage building projects that aren't funded with state GPR dollars.
