Dem bill would extend state’s non-discrimination laws to protect transgender people

Rep. Mark Spreitzer said today a bill he’s introducing would “provide much-needed protections” for the state’s transgender residents.
Spreitzer, D-Beloit, held a news conference at the Capitol outlining his proposal to extend Wisconsin’s non-discrimination laws to protect transgender people, who he said face discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations and other areas.
“Much discrimination already happens today, and we need this bill to ensure it cannot happen in the future,” he said.
