DNR to move forestry headquarters to Rhinelander

Gov. Scott Walker was in northern Wisconsin today to announce the DNR will move its forestry headquarters to Rhinelander from Madison.
Forestry will be the only of the DNR’s five divisions with its headquarters outside of Madison. The move was included in the 2015-17 state budget.
“When you just look at the forest products system, so much of it is dependent on people who are either working or located here in the northern part of the state of Wisconsin, so it just makes good sense for us,” Walker said.
