GOP bill would require UW to boost three-year degree options

Two GOP lawmakers are circulating a bill that would bring back Gov. Scott Walker’s efforts to require the UW System to lay out more three-year degree options for its students.
Under the bill, from Sen. Dan Feyen and Rep. Joel Kitchens, the UW System would have to submit three-year graduation plans for 25 percent all its majors by Jan. 1, 2018, and plans for 50 percent of all its majors by June 30, 2020.
That’s a slight tweak from the guv’s budget provision, which would have called for plans for 10 percent of all system majors by 2018 and 60 percent by 2020.
