Tony Kurtz, who took 43.4 percent of the vote in 2014 as he lost to Ron Kind, said he has decided against seeking a rematch with the La Crosse Dem in 2018, in part because of what he sees as a poor political climate for Republicans next year.
Kurtz, an organic farmer who spent two decades in the U.S. Army, stressed that is not the only reason he decided against a bid.
“I’ll put it this way. I hope I’m wrong. I really do. I’ve just got a feeling that it’s not,” said Kurtz, who worked on U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson’s re-election campaign.
