State Rep. Cory Mason plans to resign his Assembly seat Jan. 15 following his election as mayor of Racine.
Mason, who will be sworn in this evening, suggested in a letter to the guv a timeline for the special election to fill his seat.
The Jan. 15 resignation of Mason from his 66th AD seat would allow the guv to call a special election for his Racine Assembly seat at the same time one is scheduled for the open 58th AD, which was left vacant by the death of Republican Bob Gannon. That would mean a primary for the heavily Dem seat Dec. 19 with a general election Jan. 16.
