Join USGBC Wisconsin and our partners in the Wisconsin Dells on Wednesday, March 1st from 6:00-7:30pm for MOBILIZE WISCONSIN GREEN VETERANS gathering held in conjunction with the 2017 Wisconsin Better Buildings: Better Business Conference.
At the event, we will be introducing a new Wisconsin initiative – Green Veterans. Green Veterans is a group dedicated to helping our nation’s heroes learn about sustainable building and green living, while helping to ease the hardship of military-to-civilian transition. The Green Veterans program focuses on empowering veterans to use their military acumen to help sustain the very Nation for which they fought and which they defended. By collaborating with civilian and veteran groups on green building initiatives, the Green Veterans Program provides practical green education programs that veterans can tap to gain experience and confidence that will be valuable to prospective employers.
During the Mobilize Wisconsin Green Veterans gathering, you will meet national leaders and hear from members of the highly successful Florida program.
Come learn about the Green Vets’ focus on four key activities:
- Reintegration
- Sustainability training
- Veteran-oriented service projects
- Trauma resolution through green buildings
These efforts are accomplished through outreach, where the approach is to engage Veteran facilities, connect with higher education institutions, and assemble projects through national organizations and community support.
Whether you are a veteran, civilian, educator or employer – anyone who believes in the Green Veterans values and wants to build a strong program in Wisconsin should attend this gathering. Together we will discuss the next steps for success here, in Wisconsin, and how you can get involved.
