MON PM Update: New regents resolution would punish students who violate others’ free speech

UW System students who are found responsible for disrupting others’ freedom of expression twice would be suspended, while those who do so three times would be expelled, under a resolution that the regents will consider on Friday.
The resolution has some similar elements as a bill that passed the Assembly. The bill would require the UW System to establish policies on freedom of expression and then punish students who violate the policies.
But the bill has not yet passed the Senate, and there is a competing proposal that hasn’t passed either chamber.
