State, UW could save $22 million if ACA insurer fee is repealed

The state and UW System could save almost $22 million if the Affordable Care Act's health insurer fee is repealed, according to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau.
The agency today provided members of the Joint Finance Committee an overview of the guv's call to move to a self-insurance model, along with other provisions impacting state employee group health plans.
Today's memo does not provide any analysis on the likelihood the state would save $60 million in GPR in 2017-19 by moving to a self-insurance plan as the guv's administration assumes in the budget. But it lays out the guv's plan.
