UW System would pursue chancellor candidates outside of academia under new resolution

The UW System should actively pursue chancellor candidates outside of academia and boost professional development to help current staff take on top campus roles, under a resolution from the regents’ vice president.
The recommendations, which the regents will consider on Thursday, follow the passage of a provision in the budget prohibiting the regents from only considering for top posts those who are tenured, have been faculty members or hold terminal degrees.
