Walker’s budget boosts per-student voucher payments

Wisconsin private school voucher payments would increase by $217 per student under Gov. Scott Walker's budget for each year of the biennium, according to a Legislative Fiscal Bureau memo Dems released today.
That means for grades K-8, total per-student voucher funding would hit $7,540 in 2017-18 and $7,757 in 2018-19. Meanwhile for grades 9-12, total state funding would equal $8,186 per choice student in 2017-18 and $8,403 in 2018-19.
The memo, sent to Sen. Janet Bewley, D-Ashland, last week, also compares the 2018-19 per-student funds to the average amount public school students each receive....
