Wis Medicaid director: House GOP health care bill gives states flexibility, doesn’t gut Medicaid

State Medicaid Director Michael Heifetz today disputed concerns from critics that the health care bill guts Medicaid funding in the long-term.
Heifetz told a WisPolitics.com luncheon today that Congress is trying to bend the cost curve since Obamacare ended up doing little to “substantively change how care is delivered or how it’s paid for.” The health care bill, he said, will give states more flexibility to manage health care costs better.
“It’s not the draconian cuts that many have predicted for years, but it will require a more aggressive management of the budget line,” Heifetz said.
