MADISON — The Department of Public Instruction will conduct a hearing in Madison from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Feb. 15 to take public testimony on emergency rules related to PI 34, educator licensing.

The hearing will be held at department headquarters, GEF 3, Room P41, 125 South Webster Street, Madison. The emergency rules address the new provisional and lifetime licenses, created under 2017 Wisconsin Act 59, as well as a subchapter relating to obsolete licenses. These new emergency rules replace Emergency Rule 1711, which will expire before related permanent rules (Clearinghouse Rule 17-093) complete promulgation. Please note that public comment on the permanent rules for PI 34 closed Jan. 31.

Written comments on the emergency rules may be submitted via the department’s form for

Written comments on the emergency rules received no later than Feb. 23 will be given the same consideration as testimony presented at the hearing.
