Trump schedules Jan. 14 rally in Milwaukee

President Donald Trump has scheduled a Jan. 14 campaign rally in Milwaukee, his first stop of the new year in what is likely to be a key battleground state in 2020.  Trump’s “Make America Great Again” rally is planned for 7 p.m. in the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in the city’s downtown area.  Dem presidential contenders have their 7th debate planned for Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, the same day as Trump’s rally. Foxconn Racine County: Becomes largest tax payer in Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant, Wis. – The Village of Mount Pleasant has received 2019 property tax payment from Foxconn Technology Group in the amount of $1,071,899.55, making Foxconn the largest taxpayer in the Village. In addition, Foxconn also paid its first Special Assessment payment in the amount of $7,325,050. Foxconn is responsible to pay Special Assessments to cover the cost of all land acquisitions in the project area, in addition to the $60 million it paid the Village in 2017. To-date, 850 acres of land in Area I have been conveyed to Foxconn, and a total of $110 million in Special Assessments are in

Department of Revenue: Wisconsin Audit Initiative provides 12 to 1 Return on Investment

The 2015-2017 biennial budget, Wisconsin Act 55, requires the Wisconsin Department of Revenue to annually report to the Joint Committee on Finance the actual or estimated amounts of state tax revenues generated by, and expenditures associated with, the additional full-time, audit-related positions created by Act 55.  This year was a record year for the audit initiative. “The initiative, which primarily focuses on out-of-state audits and investigations of out-of-state companies generating revenue in the state, is greatly surpassing all expectations,” notes Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca. The Act 55 goal for FY2019 was additional audit collections of $82 million.

Reps. Novak abd Vruwink: Introduce bill aimed at harassment of sports officials

State Rep. Todd Novak (R-Dodgeville) and State Rep. Don Vruwink (D-Milton) have introduced a bipartisan bill intended to protect sports officials from violent fans.   “Youth sports are the training ground for umpires and referees,” Vruwink said. “If sports officials are verbally abused or physically threatened when they are just starting out, they are likely to quit the job and never come back.
