MADISON – Yesterday in Green Bay, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its long-awaited proposal to update to the federal Lead and Copper Rule. Unfortunately, while the EPA’s proposed rule offers some enhanced testing and monitoring, it lacks the bold action necessary to ensure safe drinking water for all Americans as soon as possible. “As proposed, the EPA’s long-awaited update to the Lead and Copper Rule falls far short of the decisive action needed to get the lead out of our drinking water,” said Megan Severson, Wisconsin Environment State Director. “And in a few critical provisions, the proposed rule could even take us backwards.

MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents today advanced a proposed administrative rule restricting free speech on campuses that includes threatening students with investigation, suspension or even expulsion for violations. Appointees of former Gov. Scott Walker who remain on the Board of Regents have been pursuing the policy since 2017, and have admitted their efforts are designed to appease right-wing politicians like Assembly Speaker Robin Vos. MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents heard a presentation from Ashland and Bayfield counties on The Literacy Link, a UW System–funded pilot project that connects children and parents in justice-involved families through literacy-rich experiences and environments. The Literacy Link pilot project is showing great promise as an approach that builds the reading, speaking, and listening abilities of young children in families throughout the criminal justice system. Through these literacy experiences, positive relationships are strengthened between the children and their caregivers.
