NextGen Wisconsin to Co-Host Madison Youth Strike for Climate Justice

Madison, WI – On Friday, March 15, NextGen Wisconsin will co-host and register young Wisconsinites to vote at the Madison Youth Strike for Climate Justice. As part of the global ‘School Strike for Climate’ on March 15th, students in Madison will rally to demand action to combat climate change. Over the last few years, Wisconsin has increasingly battled massive floods, drought, and economic setbacks due to worsening climate change. At Friday’s rally, NextGen Wisconsin will emphasize that by electing progressive leaders who will safeguard the environment and livelihood of all Wisconsinites, young voters can work to achieve climate justice.

In 2018, NextGen Wisconsin collected over 50,800 pledges to vote from young people and knocked on 178,000+ doors. Young Wisconsinites voted overwhelmingly to defeat Scott Walker, elect Tony Evers, and defend Senator Tammy Baldwin’s seat. This year, NextGen Wisconsin remains committed to organizing young people on college campuses and in communities around elections, fighting to expand access to the ballot box, and advocating for progressive change.
