Madison – Today, the State Assembly passed Assembly Bill 4 (AB 4). Rep. Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) issued the following statement regarding the passage:

“The bill that the Assembly passed today is an attempt to preclude Governor Evers’ budget plans. I am glad that helping our hardworking families is a bipartisan issue. However, AB 4 will have a significant fiscal impact on this budget and future budgets.

“Legislation with large price tags should be included when legislators sit down to create a budget plan for the biennium. Since we are in the stages of forming a budget right now, we have an opportunity to include an idea like Governor Evers promised. Instead, AB 4 was rushed through the process and was done as a standalone bill without considering how to fund this in future years.

“We have an opportunity to implement a well-thought-out and sustainable tax cut plan. Together in the coming weeks we can create a better solution for the hard-working families of Wisconsin. I look forward to meeting and working with my colleagues and Governor Evers to pass the people’s budget.”
