WED PM Update: Republicans knock Evers’ plan to lift deadline for closing Lincoln Hills

-- Two key Republicans working on legislation to delay the closure of Lincoln Hills said today it is unacceptable for Gov. Tony Evers to propose in his budget lifting a hard deadline to transfer young offenders to new facilities.
But Dem Rep. Evan Goyke, who has been working with Republicans Michael Schraa and Van Wanggaard on the bill, said the guv's call to move 17-year-olds back to juvenile courts would create an entirely new dynamic that could justify additional delays in closing the troubled prison in northern Wisconsin.
