U.S. Rep. Moore: Supports legislation to honor the contributions of the all black, female “Six Triple Eight” battalion of World War II

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Moore supported Congressman Anthony G. Brown’s resolution, H.Res. 867, honoring the service of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. An all-black, all female battalion, they were deployed during World War II at a time when there was a significant shortage of postal workers across the European Theater. The 6888th was the only African-American unit in the Women’s Army Corps to deploy overseas during the War. Gov. Evers: Swears in new Adjutant General of the Wisconsin National Guard

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today swore Wisconsin’s new adjutant general into the Wisconsin National Guard. Maj. Gen. Paul E. Knapp was officially promoted to the rank of major general, by the governor, who is the commander-in-chief of the Wisconsin National Guard, during a ceremony in the governor’s office with members of his family present as he assumed the duties of the adjutant general.  As adjutant general, Knapp is the commander of the 10,000 Soldiers and Airmen of the Wisconsin Army and Air National Guard. He is also responsible for Wisconsin Emergency Management, Wisconsin’s Office of Emergency Communications, and serves as Wisconsin’s Homeland Security Advisor.

Dept. of Workforce Development: Awards teacher training and recruitment grants for nonprofit organizations

MADISON – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has awarded nearly $1 million in Wisconsin Fast Forward (WFF) Teacher Training and Recruitment grants to two nonprofit organizations to recruit and prepare individuals to teach in public or private schools in Wisconsin. “The Wisconsin Fast Forward program is investing in our teachers and our students,” DWD Secretary Caleb Frostman said. “Wisconsin is facing unprecedented teacher shortages and these grants will help alleviate this issue in low-income and urban school districts where Wisconsin teacher shortages are most concerning.” DWD granted $500,000 to City Forward Collective to recruit, train, mentor, and place 140 new teachers
