Sen. Baldwin: Leads bipartisan group of senators calling on HUD Secretary Carson to take action on CDBG funding and guidance

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) led a bipartisan group of Senators calling on U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson to take action and work quickly to allocate all remaining Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding from the CARES Act and publish comprehensive guidance for use of those funds, including for previously announced funding. Office of the Vice President: PPE shipments being delivered to nursing homes across the state

On Background: On April 30, Vice President Pence, leader of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate shipments of personal protective equipment (PPE) to more than 15,000 nursing homes across America. Wisconsin National Guard specimen collection teams collected over 4,100 specimens May 26 and its cumulative total collected for COVID-19 testing topped 72,000 as 25 teams continue to operate across Wisconsin supporting local health departments and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services with COVID-19 testing efforts. Some members of the UW System’s shared governance communities throughout the state expressed concern over President Ray Cross’ blueprint to specialize campuses and consolidate certain administrative functions.
