Vos directs Assembly committee to open probe of Tuesday’s election

Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, today directed an Assembly committee to use its subpoena powers to investigate how Tuesday’s election was administered, raising concerns about “mail-in ballot dumps and voter fraud.” Vos’ statement included no specifics on either allegation, and a spokeswoman said more information about the Campaigns and Elections Committee’s actions would be released after leadership elections next week. The move comes as President Trump and his campaign have lobbed a series of allegations about fraud and improprieties, often without evidence, in the count of ballots in various states. Wisconsin pollsters reflect on another election-year miss

In the closing days of the race, polls showed Biden headed for a comfortable victory with most having him above 50 percent. Surveys were less frequent in 2016, when Hillary Clinton also was seen to be on track for beating Trump. Biden won. Clinton lost. Elections head clarifies allowed ballot fixes as Trump campaign cites ‘irregularities’ in vowing recount

The state’s top election official clarified poll workers are allowed to fix some mistakes made by absentee voters as the Trump campaign charges officials in Milwaukee County “tainted” an estimated 15 percent of absentee ballots. Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien in a statement Wednesday cited “reports of irregularities in several Wisconsin counties” though didn’t detail any issues with the Wisconsin vote in indicating the campaign will seek an “immediate” recount. Elections head says Trump campaign would have to prepay recount costs

The Trump campaign will have to pre-pay the estimated cost of a recount before that process can begin, says Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe. And she added that payment must be received within a day of the last of the state’s 72 counties turning over its canvass to the state. WISPIRG, New Voters Project: New data shows youth voter turnout on track to surpass 2016

Nationwide — New data from the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) estimates that the percentage of all eligible young voters, ages 18-29, who cast a ballot in 2016 may increase between 5 to 10 percentage points in 2020.
