WisGOP: Andrew Hitt unanimously re-elected to serve as chair

[Madison, WI] – Over the weekend, the Republican Party of Wisconsin Executive Board — consisting of grassroots activists from every Congressional District — unanimously re-elected WisGOP Chairman Andrew Hitt to serve another term as volunteer chair. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving as the Chairman for the Republican Party of Wisconsin,” said Andrew Hitt. “In 2020, we defended our majorities in the Legislature and spoke directly to voters in communities that we previously neglected. Immediately, we will focus on ensuring that all legal votes are counted in the upcoming recount. “But our work isn’t done. We need

Wisconsin Budget Project: Wisconsin’s property tax code, which never mentions race, is slanted in favor of white Wisconsinites

Our state and local tax code does not mention race. And yet it systematically demands that people of color pay a higher share of their income in taxes than white residents, showing that policies don’t have to explicitly mention race in order to have racially discriminatory consequences. The racial preferences that are baked into Wisconsin’s property tax code take the form of very large property tax credits that give bigger tax breaks to homeowners than to renters, even though both groups pay property taxes. At the state level, Wisconsin spends more than a billion dollars a year on these tax

Talent Bandit hopes to ‘steal’ its share of the staffing market

Inefficient. clunky. extra work.  These are words that come to the mind of Bill Neill, co-founder of Talent Bandit, when he talks about the general state of the staffing industry.  Staffing is an old industry, and it has operated the same way for decades, according to Neill. A client receives a resume attached to an email and that’s about it — not always enough to tell if a candidate is the right fit.  Not only that, Neill said, but the outdated technology creates extra work for staffing agencies and hiring managers alike. The email workflow alone makes it easy to

Rep. Vruwink: Popular vote vs electoral college

One of my favorite experiences as a high school history teacher was teaching about the electoral college and its role in electing the President of the United States.   Deciding how to elect the president was one of the thorniest matters addressed at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787.
